Three lost dogs are hoping to be reunited with their owners after being found.
Wiltshire Council’s public protection service says all of them are lurchers.
Two were found in Salisbury while another was discovered in Royal Wootton Bassett.
Lurcher – Royal Wootton Bassett
This male lurcher was found on Friday, February 24. He is not microchipped and those with information should quote reference number 202304436.
Lurcher – Salisbury
A male lurcher was found in Salisbury on February 20. He was microchipped but with incorrect details. The relevant reference number is 202304115.
Lurcher – Salisbury
Another was found in the Salisbury area on the same date. This one was female and was not microchipped. Her reference number is 202303982.
The council added that the number of abandoned lurchers is high at this time of year because it is the peak season for “the illegal practise of hare coursing”, for which Lurchers are the preferred breed.
The dogs are not currently being considered for rehoming, but the council has urged anyone with information that will help find the owners to email them at dogs@wiltshire.gov.uk.
Any owner hoping to claim a dog must provide personal ID, proof of address and sufficient proof of ownership. Any relevant fees must be paid prior to collection.
