| Nathan Eyres leaves Chippenham magistrates |
PARTY gatecrasher Nathan Eyres punched the air in celebration after a court allowed him to walk free with a conditional discharge.
He was one of three teenagers who appeared before Chippenham magistrates on Tuesday charged with abusive behaviour at a Chippenham party which got out of control after it was advertised on the Bebo networking website.
Eyres, 18, of Derriads Green, Chippenham, admitted using threatening and abusive language and behaviour with intent to cause people to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against them at the birthday party in Brewers Mead, Pewsham, in October.
A 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old Adam Wilson pleaded not guilty to public order offences.
Wilson, of Charter Road, Chippenham, also denied a charge of smashing the front windows of the home. They were both released on unconditional bail to reappear before magistrates on April 29.
The court heard how Eyres became confrontational at Chris Worthy's 16th birthday party when another reveller hurt his female friend and he was hit with a beer can.
Andrew Watts Jones, defending, said: "He is currently working for an employment agency. On the evening in question he had a slight amount to drink. He was angry at what he saw happen. He has now got his life on the straight and narrow."
When passing sentence magistrate Priscilla Gray said: "From what we have heard today the part you played was very minor.
"Your solicitor has said you are trying to get your life in order. This conditional discharge means you have to behave yourself."
Chris's father Dave Worthy said after the court case the incident has not put the family off hosting another party.
More than 100 teenagers stormed Mr Worthy's home after their son, a Sheldon School pupil, put an invitation to his party on Bebo.
Police arrested nine youngsters on public order offences.
Mr Worthy said: "We will have another party at some point. You can't let a few thugs ruin your life. You are giving in and that is wrong.
However since the party we don't let the kids go into town in the evening and if they want to go somewhere we take them and pick them up because some kids have been threatening them."
Sgt Martin Alvis, of Chippenham Police, said: "People need to learn that what is a bit of fun to some can cause upset and distress to others. Wiltshire Police will not tolerate this behaviour."

boomtown, agreed. To place this moron on the front page, just enhances his reputation among the little gang of yobs he hangs about with. This particular leopard will not change his spots.Expect a breach of his conditional anytime soon.

To make this the front page story is wholly inapproriate and serves only to encourage copycat anti social behaviour. Our police force have a difficult enough job as it is without glorifying the mindless behaviour of those out to act in an anti social manner.
It is all of our responsibility to encourage a collective community spirit where actions like these are not tolerated. The Gazette has a major role to play in upholding such values. I look forward to reading about Mr. Eyres breaking his conditions and hopefully getting a more appropriate sentence. Somehow I don't think I will have long to wait.

Didn't this BOY's past history and involvment with the police get looked into before sentencing?? He's nothing but a prat and a trouble maker. When is he going to be held accountable for the trouble he causes??

I am an old school friend to Chris's older brother, and been at primary and secondary school with the Worthy brothers. This sort of an article seems to celebrate what this man did, rather than to punish it. I feel sorry for the Worthy family as they had repairs to carry out after. My wishes are with the family of Chris, and i'd like to frown at this article, and give the man what he deserves if i was given a choice. People get let off too easy these days. He'll have to behave himself, and the most he'll get is either a fine, supervision order, or be charged court costs and told not to do it again.

Looks like a thug, talks like a thug - is a thug.
People in the area know this, yet he walks free from court.
'Trying' to get his life in order - Read [italic]hasn't[/italic] , wont and no intention of doing anything other than speaking weasel words to get out of punishment

The way he leaves the court gives a clear view of the boys attitude to the law and the sentance he was given. How can we expect to deal with anti social behaviour when the courts wont set an example and punish those caught

The only thing that one can say Maxter is perhaps Amy should spend some time learning to read and write instead of trying to defend a no hope drain on society. Which is probably where she is coming from.
